  • What do I do if the caller cannot hear me or I can't hear the caller?

Try a handset from another phone. See if the problem stays on the handset or phone. Try a new handset cord. Wiggle the connector on both the cord to the phone and cord to the handset to see if you can check if there is a connector short. (best to try this on a test call as to get feedback on both sides)

  • My display is dead.

Unplug phone and replug in phone. (This resets the phone) Try a new line cord. If the first 2 steps do not work, swap with another phone is the office (same model). See if the problem follows the phone or the jack.

  • No incoming calls.

If the caller can not get through to you, call the number yourself and see if there is an automated message or just endless ringing without ringing to the phone in the office. If you get an automated message, call your dial tone provider and have them take care of the issue. If the ringing is endless, please call Phone System Technician to have further troubleshooted. It is always helpful to have the dial tone provider info, if needed.

  • No outgoing calls.

Your phone system is unable to produce error messages. These are a Telco (dial tone provider) messages. ('Your call can not go through as dialed.", "You must first dial a 1, then the number." ETC.) If your display is working and you can intercom another internal phone then your best first step is calling your dial tone provider. Phone system errors will usually show in the display.

This is essentially the same as the troubleshooting for "No Incoming Calls", but in reverse. Try to make a call and see if you get an automated voice.
